And in my opinion, it only needs a little slack. But honestly, this book was written 60 years ago, and you need to cut it a little slack because of that. And there were a few slight pieces of sexism that I ignored, skipped over, or re-worded on the fly. The British slang will be a stumbling block to some. And when you're reading a book aloud, it becomes really obvious.) (That's become a particular peeve lately.
